Gum disease is quiet until it is not.
Without insurance, every visit is its own bill, so the twice-a-year visits are the easiest ones to put off. Early gum disease does not hurt, and that is why it gets put off too.
Bacteria build up in the small space between each tooth and the gum. Left there, they make the space deeper, and a deeper space holds more bacteria. A hygiene visit clears that space, and a screening measures it, so a change shows up while it is still small.
Dr. Goh calls gum disease probably the condition that matters most for your overall health. The plan pays for the visits up front, so cost is not the reason you skip one.

Your gums decide which one.
VIP Savings Plan
For patients without insurance. Your exams, hygiene visits, X-rays and fluoride for the year, plus 20% off crowns, fillings, bridges and onlays.
Perio plan
For gums that need care more often than twice a year. Your gum health sets where it falls in the $500 to $800 range.
Have insurance?
Choose the perio plan. It pays your co-pays and fluoride, and adds 2 more gum care visits if your insurance pays for only 2 a year.
With insurance, the 20% off does not apply to your co-pays, because your plan's fees are already discounted.
What the plan is worth.
At Dr. Goh's own prices, to set against the $500 to $800 yearly fee. See every price on the dental costs page.
Two hygiene visits
Without a plan, a hygiene visit is $114 to $202. Two a year is $228 to $404 before you add an exam or an X-ray.
One crown
Without insurance a crown is $2,062. With the plan's 20% off it is $1,649.60, so the crown alone is $412.40 less.
Gum disease caught early
A deep cleaning costs $145 to $474 for each quarter of the mouth. Two screenings a year are how you find gum disease before it needs one.
