Why calibrated

Whitening should read as rested, not bleached.

Over-the-counter strips flood every tooth with the same dose. We take shade readings, check where the color actually lives, and set the gel strength and wear time to your enamel, so the result looks like your teeth on their best day, not a stranger's.

That calibration is also what keeps sensitivity down. Most people whiten with us and feel nothing worse than a passing zing.

What to expect

Is whitening right for you?

Whitening lifts color from natural enamel. It's a straightforward, low-risk change when the discoloration is on your own teeth, and the wrong tool when it isn't. An honest look up front saves you money and disappointment.

At your visit Dr. Goh checks the source of the color, looks at any existing dental work, and tells you plainly whether whitening alone will get you there or whether bonding, a cleaning, or a different plan comes first.

  • Great fit

    General yellowing, coffee/tea/wine stain, age-darkening, and teeth that are healthy but dull.

  • Talk first

    Heavy sensitivity, gum recession, or very deep intrinsic stain: often still workable with KöR and a slower dose.

  • Won't whiten

    Crowns, veneers, bonding, and fillings keep their color. We plan around them so your smile stays even.

Individual results vary. Whitening is not permanent. A take-home touch-up every so often keeps it where you like it.

It depends on where you're starting and what's causing the color, so we set realistic expectations before you begin rather than promising a shade off a chart. Most patients see a clear, natural brightening; deeper or older staining takes longer and may lean on the KöR system. Individual results vary. You'll get an honest read at your visit.
Whitening doesn't damage healthy enamel when it's dosed correctly. Sensitivity is the usual side effect, and it's temporary, which is why we calibrate the gel strength and wear time to your teeth, and use systems with potassium nitrate and fluoride built in. If you already run sensitive, we start gentler and build up.
Both work; it's about your timeline and your teeth. In-office Boost gives a visible lift in one appointment. Custom take-home trays whiten gradually over a couple of weeks and are easy to touch up later. Many patients do both: an in-office jump-start, then trays to reach and hold the result.
No. We don't use light- or laser-activated whitening. The research doesn't show lamps meaningfully improve the final result, and they tend to increase sensitivity. Our in-office gel is chemically activated, and our take-home systems are calibrated to your enamel, which we've found gives a more comfortable, longer-lasting whitening.
No. Whitening only lifts color from natural enamel. Porcelain and composite dental work keep the shade they were made in. If you have visible restorations, we plan the whitening around them (and sometimes whiten first, then match new work to the brighter shade) so your smile stays even.
Whitening isn't permanent. Coffee, tea, red wine, and time gradually bring color back. With take-home trays you keep, a short touch-up every few months keeps it where you like it. We'll show you how so you're not paying for a full treatment again.

Usually open Tuesday to Thursday, plus some Mondays and Fridays, 8 AM to about 4:30 PM. No evening or weekend appointments. Hours shift every two weeks, so call to confirm.
