Where the method comes from

Built on training, not guesswork.

Every design goes through the DSD Planning Center, where at least four more dentists review it before you see it. He backs every design with his DSD certification and twenty-seven years in practice, so more than one person checks the plan before you approve it.

The process

How a design gets made

  1. Step 1

    Records

    A digital scan of your teeth, five photographs, and a short video of you talking and smiling. A still photo cannot show how your smile moves.

  2. Step 2

    The design

    We draw your new smile against your own face, not an average one, and you can adjust and rework every tooth before anything is final.

  3. Step 3

    Smile Test Drive

    We fit a temporary version of the design over your own teeth, so you see it in daylight and say what to change. It comes off before you leave.

  4. Step 4

    Approve, then plan treatment

    We bond or build nothing until you say yes to the design. Then Dr. Goh explains which treatment gets you there and how many visits it takes.

  5. Step 5

    Check the result

    After treatment, we scan your mouth again and compare it to the plan you approved. That checks the fit between the design and the result instead of assuming it.

Why facially driven matters

The design starts with your face, not an average one.

Most smile plans start from a chart of average proportions. Yours starts from five photographs and one short video of you talking and smiling. We measure your own width, tilt, and how much tooth shows when you laugh, instead of guessing.

That is what facially driven means here. We build the plan to work when you actually smile, not just when you hold still for a photo.

Honest limits

What Digital Smile Design does not promise

Digital Smile Design is a planning step, not a treatment by itself. It works before composite veneers, before Invisalign, before whitening or gum work, whenever you want to see a change before you agree to it.

It does not choose your treatment for you, but it shows you where you could end up, so the choice is easier to make.

    • The design shows the plan. Choosing the material or technique still happens at your visit

    • We mock up a lot of cases in the chair. Not every one. Some work sits in a single section of the mouth, and some people already know what they want
    • The mockup does not go home with you. What you keep is the design and the photographs

Digital Smile Design is how we plan your new smile before any of it is real. We scan your teeth, photograph and film you smiling and talking, and draw the new shape against your own face instead of an average one. You see the plan and try it on before we bond or build anything.
Yes, we call it a Smile Test Drive. We fit a temporary version of the design over your own teeth. You see it in daylight and say what you would change. We change nothing about your teeth until you approve the design.
No, Dr. Goh removes it before you leave the office. You keep the design itself and the photographs, something to look at and think about. The temporary piece in your mouth that day does not leave with you.
A lot of cases, but not every one, and the reason usually has nothing to do with your teeth. Work that sits in a single section of your mouth has no whole smile to preview. And some people arrive already decided, and would rather start than spend a visit looking at a preview. Dr. Goh will say at your exam which one fits you.
No, they are two different tools for two different plans. For aligner cases, Dr. Goh uses what he calls the Outcome Simulator, built from photos taken through the Invisalign app. Digital Smile Design is the process behind changes to the shape of your teeth themselves, like composite veneers. Both let you see a plan before you commit to it. We just build them for different kinds of treatment.

That depends on what the design leads to, since Digital Smile Design is the planning step, not the treatment itself. Composite veneers, Invisalign, and whitening cost different amounts. Dr. Goh will walk through the real numbers with you once you have seen and approved a design. We decide and charge nothing before that.

Come in for a Smile Reveal. We send your records out for a 3D treatment plan built around your face, and Dr. Goh walks you through it before you decide.

Usually open Tuesday to Thursday, plus some Mondays and Fridays, 8 AM to about 4:30 PM. No evening or weekend appointments. Hours shift every two weeks, so call to confirm.
